Spider-Man 2:
“MJ’s New Life/Spidus Interruptus” – after the first minute when it gets all choral and thematic
“The Bank/Saving May” – The part where Spidey catches the falling Aunt May, and also the last 20 seconds as he swings away
“Train/Appreciation” – Big, brassy Spidey theme, also the choral beginning and end of “appreciation”
“Armageddon/A Really Big Web” – MJ makes her big discovery, and the very end of the track.
“At Long Last, Love” – Of course, the finaleSpider-Man:
“Final Confrontation” – mostly everythign that wasn’t on the soundtrack, from the lowering of the tram to the Green Goblin getting his ass whooped.Sleepy Hollow:
“A New Day” – The final choral partBig Fish:
“Finale” – The very endAs you all can tell, I love my Elfman music.
Spider-FanParticipantHeh, it would be nice if Katie Holmes wandered around the Elfman boards. If it is her, call me!
Either way, thanks Katie. I hereby proclaim you cool.
Spider-FanParticipantAnd, uh, where might I find those? Heh heh, I’m kidding. Still, that scene was nice. Not for her character, but for the audience. Thanks, Sam Raimi.
Spider-FanParticipantAnd what a creepy scene it is. I have no screencap, and I haven’t seen the movie in a long time, but I seem to remember Danny either wearing a hat, sporting long hair, or possibly both.
Spider-FanParticipantOh my, Blunt, I’ve been waiting since the last time I saw Spider-Man to hear that again. Thanks so much for putting that up. I believe that it’s a Young adaptation of Elfman.
Spider-FanParticipantHmmm, IMDb lists the track as “Runaway Train.” The track still hasn’t shown up anywhere, and neither has “The Demonstration” or “Special Delivery.” THe link below is the best we have as far as information goes, I think.
Spider-FanParticipantSomeone put an interview with him in this forum and he says that he doesn’t object to doing a third. Do a search, see if you can find it.
Spider-FanParticipantI read that as well. I’d love to see a director’s cut with Danny’s music put in where it should ahve been.
The article also says that the Spidey franchise will end at 3. Danny said he’s willing to do a third, and if it’s the last time we see Spidey, imagine how incredible the score will be…
Spider-FanParticipantNo, you’re not crazy. I also think it sounds like the Flubber score. I still think this one needed a stronger chorus.
Spider-FanParticipantHeh, it seems like none of us have anything to do past midnight.
Yeah, nowadays everything sounds like Spider-Man, but that’s because the Spidey score covered nearly all of Danny’s styles. That’s why it’s my favorite score of his. I also forgot to mention in my post 15 minutes ago that I think that there should have been some heavy chorus about 6 seconds into the mp3 track. It really would have sounded so much cooler.
OK, tired now. This is Spider-Fan, signing off.
Spider-FanParticipantWhoa, I forgot that it was on tonight! What’s the full opening title actually like? I don’t plan on watching, but how is that show anyway?
And D-Bo, you are the man. Sounds to me like they didn’t grant him a full orchestra. Thanks for getting it online so fast!
Spider-FanParticipantWell, it took me a good couple of minutes to absorb all that shit and comprehend it into an actual statement. Different people use different sources, many of which have information that others don’t. Danny Elfman information is not easy to come across, and this site serves as the probably the best source for it. Now, if you’re going to come here and be a complete ass, then I’d suggest that you don’t come here anymore.
Can I get an amen, my brothers and sisters?
Spider-FanParticipantIt doesn’t matter what board you’re posting on, the whole world should be honoring the life of one of the funniest men to have ever lived.
R.I.P. Rodney
Spider-FanParticipantSee, he was having lunch and an ABC xec asked him to write a theme for a new show. Danny, in mid-sandwich, wrote down some music on his napkin and voila!
Actually I don’t know when he wrote it, but he said that it took an hour to write the Simpsons theme, which is on an entirely different scale of complexity from Desperate Housewives. I’ll bet that he wrote it in a few minutes.
Spider-FanParticipantWahtchya doing with Spider-Man 2 still? Anyways, do you have the entire Desperate Housewives score on tape or the entire episode on tape? Because if it’s just the episode, then there’s 5 minutes of music/
Spider-FanParticipantI win! I posted first!
Spider-FanParticipantAh, I was just thinking of Alan Silvestri. Klaus Bedelt is an excellent action composer (The Time Machine). I also liked John Ottman’s work on X2. Chris Young’s work on Spider-Man 2 was very nice, though not on the same par as Elfman’s music. Really, Danny Elfman is an excellent action composer, probably the best in the business. It’s just a shame that he has so often said that he doesn’t like composing action scores.
Spider-FanParticipantWhere’d you hear that? I won’t go on a rampage saying that it’s not true, because Shaiman’s weblog on the Team America website is no longer there, plus his name is no longer on the site’s filmmakers list, and I believe that it was there before. I hope Marc Shaiman hasn’t left, his collaborations with Trey Parker and Matt Stone have always been great. I’m not the biggest fan of Harry Gregson-Williams, except for his minor work on Armageddon.
Spider-FanParticipantCan he play the fiddle? He did have that cameo in Sam Raimi’s “The Gift” as a fiddler in a crazy dream (though I was glad to see him on the screen, that scene freaked me out!)
Spider-FanParticipantWhoa, you forgot the Aunt May packing scene! They used “Getting Through,” though there was just about no reason why that the track on the Spider-Man 2 score “Aunt May Packs” was not used. Otherwise, I think you just about made our official list!
Spider-FanParticipantAwwww…oh well, he probably wouldn’t have had time to score it anyways considering that he’s in musical paradise right now, writing a type of music that he’s most likely been dying to write for years and only fulfilled with Sleepy Hollow in recent years.
Spider-FanParticipantThat sounds about right. It’s a really good cue, but it just wouldn’t have been as Evil Dead-ish if the music was in there. I was really impressed with that scene in that it was classic Raimi.
Spider-FanParticipantDon’t say that! He might be angry at you, and then send you a letter telling you that he is angry at you.
Spider-FanParticipantHeh. I guess I ignored a recent blog from Shaiman saying that the score isn’t even fully recorded yet. After a second look at the clip, I thought it sounded like Harald Kloser’s Day After Tomorrow score, but as it gets to Kim Jong Il pulling the lever, I could then tell that it’s the part of Independence Day when the president is talkign to the Alien. And I suppose that I was right in thinking that the end percussion sounded like Elfman, that is if it really is from Apes. Anyway, I’m sure that Shaiman’s score will be good when it’s finished. I loved his South Park and 61* music. Team America is gonna be sweet as well.
By the way, how do you bold the text?
Spider-FanParticipantYeah, I forgot to mention that when directors take on so many tasks, the movies often come out crappy. Look at Spy Kids 2 and 3 for example. I won’t dish on the first Spy Kids because it wasn’t too horrible and Danny Elfman scored some nice cues and wrote a fun song.
