Maybe I spoke too soon when I mentioned in the “Meet the Robinsons” topic that Danny should diversify his projects more and move away from kiddie movies. This will be a very interesting outcome; unless I’m mistaken, this will be Danny’s first Spanish-themed score (not including Spy Kids) and his first all-out comedy in quite a while. I’m going to wait and see where this goes, especially in so little time, although “Hulk” showed he’s still good under pressure.

I had heard Beck was writing the score, but a browsing of the IMDb boards shows knowledge of Danny as far back as March 31. That’s really crazy news…the movie’s out in less than two months! I wonder if it’ll be a rock-type score, or what. I wasn’t too excited about this movie before, as I hated “Napoleon Dynamite,” but now I have a reason to see this.

Ooh, and it utilized Ed Shearmur’s “Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow” theme! Fun! Looks like an…interesting movie. However, at this point I really think Danny needs to move away from kiddy movies and start doing some more diverse projects. Charlie, Corpse Bride, Charlotte’s Web, and now this. We need some more Sleepy Hollows or action movies!

Ugh, I hate it when they hire contemporary singers to write songs for animated movies. One such case: Jack Johnson for “Curious George.” It totally takes away the composer’s glory.

I used to love that show. Interesting that they had a direct rip instead of a very vague rip like in “Mallrats.”

How in the hell is Gustavo Santoalalla ahead of David Arnold this year when the former wasn’t even on last year’s list?

Keep in mind, this play was performed by the mentally handicapped. Sex and drugs are a big no-no for their productions.

The JoBlo.com DVD review says it’s pretty much a Cruise-fest and doesn’t give enough props to De Palma, and as we can observe, the same goes for Danny.

Yeah, Canadians! At least in America, we watch educational videos like “The Lion King” and “Caddyshack.” Shame on you all.

Actually, I did manage to convince my physics teacher to let us watch an educational docudrama called “Journey to the Planets and Beyond” (or, “Space Odyssey: Journey to the Planets,” as it’s known in the UK) for the last two-hour block before spring break. It wa a BBC production that they aired on the Science Channel in America that featured a very nice score by Don Davis — I’ve mentioned it in another topic.

It’s also funny someone should mention hearing Elfman music in another classroom. I was in Spanish class last week and the class next to me was watching a movie with what sounded to be a big, sweeping Horner score, but I still don’t know what it is. I don’t know the teacher or anyone in the class so I’m afraid to ask, but it’s been bugging me like crazy.

I’m slightly indifferent. I liked what Danny wrote, but the scene does indeed work quite well without music. But with that great sync job by D-Bo, it seems pretty clear that the music was for that scene. I’d be interested to see if the music could be synched to the demonstration scene to see if it works, and it not, what the real music sounds liks.

I saw the movie a few weeks back, and the final piece used was my favorite, when they explain that coral all spread their seeds at the exact same time every year. Can’t wait to see the movie again in a few weeks.

Ha, awesome because they got away scot-free when they did an episode several years that actually did depict the prophet as one of the members of the “Super Best Friends.” Using Family Guy as a shield…quite brilliant. And they do admit that Family Guy is funny, but the commentary about the jokes being interchangeable and irrelevant is totally right, although I watch it anyway because they’re usually funny. I think this one was also meant to tell everyone, “out humor is NOT like Family Guy! Stop comparing us!” However, I’m getting more and more disturbed by the gruesome imagery they keep putting in. Two weeks ago, it was Chef getting impaled, having his face torn off, and being ripped apart. This week, it was Ike and Kyle being seared alive by a bomb’s blast. I’m going to have nightmares!

And keeping this relevant with film music, did you catch the music from “Team America” being played during the conclusion, when we’re told we need to find out if Comedy Central will puss out? Gotta admit, I liked HGW’s score for that movie and it worked well there.

I re-watched “Bigger, Longer, and Uncut” recently just to admire the amazing score and songs written by Shaiman. It’s all quite amazing. South Park feels so complete when accompanied by a complete orchestra. It’s jut a shame that Shaiman left “Team America” for whatever reason, because that could have been awesome.

On a side note, if this week’s supposedly anti-Family Guy episode of the show is too harsh, I may be pissed at Trey and Matt…but only for a short abount of time.

Someone posted “Swing Closeup” somewhere around here, I know because it’s on both my mp3 player and my cell phone. The original “Pizza Man” cue plays during the Driector segment of the “Making the Amazing” feature.

Good, he’s hooking the fans younger and younger. He got me when I was 13…wow, four years now. Check out “Spider-Man” for it’s sheer originality and gorgeous sound, and definitely check out his action scores like “Mission: Impossible” (the first Tom Cruise movie) “Mars Attacks!” and “Men in Black.” I think that genre is where he really excels above most other composers, although he’s said in the past that it’s not his favorite type of music to write.

They do a really good job with their new scoring of previously written material over on Family Guy. As for that gag…priceless. “All it does is shoot ya! It doesn’t make breakfast at all!” I crack up every time I watch it.

I seem to recall a commercial for Jordan’s Furniture here in New England (they have 2 IMAX theaters and other fun stuff in their stores…good place) that not only featured a cartoon ripoff of the Simpsons main title, but there was also an altered version of the theme. I only saw it air once, so maybe they ran into issues. On a side note about the store itself, I give much praise because when I went to one of their stores to see “Spider-Man 2” on IMAX, they played the score CD from the first movie in the waiting area before the movie began…respect.

I think there’s been a surge of people putting these kinds of videos on the internet in an attempt to garner the fame that “Numa-Numa” kid has. Stop it.

I remember these ads too! Unfortunately I have no sound and I can’t hear the music, but I certainly remember the old guy in the second clip saying “Dogs loooove trucks.” If an mp3 of these comes up anywhere, someone post it here!

To be honest, I’m a Family Guy fan. The Simpsons never really did anything for me, other than Danny’s theme. Still, I’ve given my signature for Danny’s sake, because this would be the third time Zimmer came on board a project that Danny should have done (M:I2, Batman Begins). He got me with The Lion King, but it’s going to take The Da Vinci Code to win me over as a fan.
