ParticipantI haven’t been a big fan of Howard’s less bombastic scores. It was “Dinosaur,” “Atlantis,” and “Signs” that won me over, though “Batman Begins” took off some points in my book. I’m curious about what he’ll have for “King Kong,” and I’d listen if the movie were about an hour less.

ParticipantIt’s one of my favorite scores, actually. I used the main titles music in the main titles of a film I made recently for school. It really surprised the people who never thought of using film score in their films for the same project, all of which contained some sort of rock or rap instead.

ParticipantI know I may get some fire on this one, but I’m going with James Horner. Most of his scores have a very comforting quality to them, even with tragic thrillers like “Titanic” and “Apollo 13.” His more recent works haven’t really been like his ’90s scores, but “The Legend of Zorro” brought back some of that magic and “Troy” felt very heroic. I’m really upset that he left “The Da Vinci Code” and went instead for “The New World,” but nonetheless I expect a great score to come from the latter and a “dece” from Hans Zimmer on the former. He’s also signed on for the new Oliver Stone 9/11 movie alongside John Wiliams, which is sure to have a magnificent score. As for my favorite Horner scores, they have to be “The Rocketeer,” “The Mask of Zorro,” “Apollo 13,” “Mighty Joe Young,” and “The Perfect Storm.” Rest assured, Danny Elfman is still my favorite composer, but I really do enjoy Horner’s works, and I was a fan of his music before I was even a fan of film music in general..

ParticipantSatellite radio is pretty much to standard radio what cable was to network television. You pay for a subscription and you get commercial-free, uncensored (I think) broadcasts. I don’t have XM, Sirius, or whatever else is available, nor will I be getting it in the near future, but if anything I’d have to get Sirius on account of Howard Stern going there.

ParticipantGood week! I imagine that the music will be original, and there better be a CD release with it. This looks like a terrific movie for Danny to score, and with it and “Believe it or Not,” I’m almost completely satisfied with him not doing “Spider-Man 3.” Odd that this slipped by so undetected! Unless Ryan’s known all along.

ParticipantGrr, why doesn’t my sound card work?! I want to hear him talk Corpse Bride! And since when di Greg Kinnear have a talk show? They “co-starred” in “The Gift,” you know. Danny helped get Greg in trouble.

ParticipantOh man, so excited to hear this! It sounds like exactly the kind of movie Tim should work on. I trust Jim Carrey completely following his performance in “Lemony Snicket,” which had a ton of Burton elements in it. He was also awesomely brilliant as the Grinch. As for Danny, oh man, does this sound like a great project for him! This is considering that they won’t use Howard Shore because it’s written by “Ed Wood” guys. I can’t wait!

ParticipantYou are the man

ParticipantYaaaaaay! You think it’ll cost much? I’ve bought 2 CDs for his music and a DVD this year for him and Tim, I’m starting to run short on cash!

ParticipantWal-Mart scares me. Anyway I have my DVD and CD already, so I can’t imagine needing anything else.
Spider-Fan
ParticipantVery sad indeed. I’m sure Young will botch the original material quite nicely.
Spider-Fan
ParticipantYeah, if they came here anyway they’d have to compensate for coming here by granting us some sort of exclusive Danny Elfman gift or interview. I’m hoping they read this one.
Spider-Fan
ParticipantI don’t play piano, but I’ve heard that Victor is playing the correct keys to the corresponding notes in the movie.
Spider-Fan
ParticipantNeat mention, but even neater feature! I wish we had video blogs for Danny’s stuff. Very cool that they’re showing this much stuff so far ahead of the release. I know the SoundtrackNet guys made a similar video about Gregson-Williams’s Chronicles of Narnia score and Disney’s lawyers stopped them from posting it on their site.
Spider-Fan
ParticipantI wonder how Danny would react to hearing those…good or bad?
Spider-Fan
ParticipantWell, his name’s already on the poster for Charlotte’s Web, and he talked about being on board months ago. That comes out next summer, and Meet the Robinsons comes out about 6 months later. There’s certainly time for Danny to fit Spidey 3, with a May 2007 release date, in his schedule, but on the Charlie red carpet he said he was replacing Spider-Man with another Spider, Charlotte’s Web. Who knows, but odds are with the anger he has towards Sam, he’s not going to do it. It breaks my heart.
Spider-Fan
ParticipantHooray!!! All hail Ryan!!! Thanks a ton to everyone who’s brought this expanded score out in the open! It’s interesting to note how different the cues are from the ones in the movie. I like the changes he made for the final cut.
Spider-Fan
ParticipantThat’s awesome! Behind Freddie Highmore, who I think is an amazing young actor, I thought she was the best out of the children in the movie, and it was her first movie! Very cool, let us know if you get to hang out with her at all. I have Julia Winter as a MySpace friend, but it’s likely a fake…still very cool.
Spider-Fan
ParticipantAhhhhh thank you!!! Now, I must search for a copy. I’ve always loved the cues that never made the CD, especially “Fire” and whichever cue plays in the part omitted from “Final Confrontation.” It would also be cool if an extended “Charlie adn the Chocolate Factory” score surfaced or got released, I’ve watched it three times since getting the DVD and there’s so much good music that isn’t on the CD.
Spider-Fan
ParticipantBelgian, eh? I’d think that he would have gone with the London Symphony Orchestra, as they seem to perform his best stuff. Either way, with or without that additional 15 minutes (although it would be much better with them) I’m going to get the release.
Spider-Fan
ParticipantHow in the hell did you change my subject title? Oh yeah, you’re the webmaster. Anyway he always seems enthusiastic when talking about his music, even on the Spider-Man 2 DVD (although he looked incredibly exhausted on that one), but on this movie he’s just ecstatic! Let’s all not forget that footage from the red carpet when he himself said that he “couldn’t care less” about Spider-Man 3, clearly they were killing his good mood by asking that…but still, we needed closure.

ParticipantThis is another opportunity for me to bitch about how upset I am over the whole fiasco. I want him to score the movie! I don’t want him to score Charlotte’s Web, I want him to do Spider-Man! Waaaaaaaah! Although I will say that based on the photos we’ve seen, I really am looking forward to seeing “Meet the Robinsons” and hearing what he comes up with musically.
Spider-Fan
ParticipantNo deleted scenes or outtakes, but be on the lookout for Easter Eggs on disc 2. I really think they could have ditched the “actvities” section on the features disc in favor of more making-of stuff. They covered a lot, but there’s still so much more! And I’m pretty bummed about no commentary.
