KeymasterHave to say, based on that clip, I don’t hear Danny Elfman!

KeymasterYesterday Clint Mansell re-tweeted something about recording the score for HITCHCOCK. Is he scoring or is Danny?
Ryan Keaveney
KeymasterSounds like they’re the original recordings with extensive editing.

Conducting is not an indication of a composer’s skill. Rather, it’s an entirely different skill altogether.
Bartek is a highly skilled orchestrator, and has worked for numerous composers. None of those scores sound anything like Danny Elfman. Hard to explain that based on your theorizing.

KeymasterHow about a chamber piece based on DARK SHADOWS?
Danny could perform the synths live!Ryan Keaveney
KeymasterI’ve always listened to these. It’s the reason why I own RED DRAGON on DVD! I used to actually record them. I even put the PEE-WEE tracks here on the site 100 years ago.

KeymasterI’ll be damned.

The track is so different (as Vicki enters the Collinwood courtyard) that I thought that cue wasn’t on the album!

KeymasterI saw this last night and really enjoyed it. Exactly what I expected — a big, expensive, melodramatic soap opera! I did notice that “House of Blood” was significantly different in the film. There’s a pulsing beat in the film version that’s mixed a lot more prominently, plus it sounded like there were some tracked in gestures as Barnabas was manhandled by the statue.
The whole time I was watching I kept saying to myself this would make a great TV series

KeymasterApparently Burton was particular about song selection. So it doesn’t surprise me that there are many in the film. But rest assured they were always going to be there in the first place.

KeymasterWish I could be there! Unfortunately I’m moving at the end of this month into a new house so I have no $$.

KeymasterOK folks, ready to roll into high gear with the relaunch. If you have any interest in helping, please e-mail me. I’m looking for a few folks to curate news content! You’ll get access to the backend to post, and I will add images, styling, etc. You’ll even get an author account and bio (if you like).

Ryan Keaveney
KeymasterWell the music is clearly by Danny. Not sure what is going on in this clip, however.
Ryan Keaveney
KeymasterBeyond the handful of songs, the only cue that sounds familiar are a few seconds of strings after the Warner Bros. logo and that is definitely by Brian Tyler.
Ryan Keaveney
KeymasterTwo of the cues are from the previous scores — “City Chase” and “The Suit”, howevever “Men at Work” and “Doomed” sound new.

KeymasterLove it

KeymasterA friend of mine saw the pic last night and said it was “refreshing and entertaining” and “a real Tim Burton-esque whack-a-doodle of a movie.”!
He also said the film was temped with THE FRIGHTENERS, SUPER 8, the original Bob Cobert TV scores and WATERHORSE: LEGEND OF THE DEEP.

KeymasterSeems like it was a short suite. The big choral moment from the middle of “Movie Studio” was definitely in there. I was just blown away by seeing my childhood icon Kermit the Frog say “Danny Elfman”.
