ParticipantHaving it released by Intrada is great. Maybe that means there will some liner notes, for once?
Thor
ParticipantNot, not everything. But the highlights, for sure.
Thor
ParticipantNo, I think the hope for a MFADT3 passed out a long time ago. It’s now been 17 years since the last!
Thor
ParticipantSorry to hear that it will be closing. As I said above, it’s the best live performance of anything I’ve ever seen!
Thor
ParticipantOh yeah, and PROMISED LAND (I have the promo).
I have several of the titles above in some form or fashion, but a regular, commercial release would be great.
Thor
ParticipantUnfortunately, I think it may be an expansion of a previously released score. That’s the habit at LLL.
Personally, I’d love to see the first release of a completely unreleased score (or one that only has a theme or brief suite or promo released)! But I realize that’s a long stretch.
Any of these would be great:
SUMMER SCHOOL
HOT TO TROT
FACE LIKE A FROG
GOOD WILL HUNTING
MY FAVOURITE MARTIAN
DEEP SEA 3D (the music not featured in Serenada Schizophrana)
NOTORIOUS
ANYWHERE BUT HERE
THE FAMILY MAN
DO NOT DISTURB
RESTLESS
CONDO PAINTING
MODERN VAMPIRES
SCREAM 2 (“Cassandra’s Aria”)
KICK-ASS (“Walk to Raisulis”….not counting promo)
NACHO LIBRETV:
AMAZING STORIES – FAMILY DOG
PERVERSIONS OF SCIENCE
POINT PLEASANT
HONDA
FORD LINCOLN MERCURY
NISSANNON-FILM MUSIC:
PIANO CONCERTO 1 1/2
THE FORTUNE TELLER
OVEREAGER OVERTURE
RABBIT AND ROGUE
JIMMY CALLICUT
LITTLE DEMONSThor
ParticipantWow, I saw the show two weeks ago! What a fantastic experience, probably the best live performance I’ve ever seen. Elfman’s music has always been on/off for me on the album, but it was magnificent in context, esp. the busy music for the whole studio lot thingie (which I don’t like alone, but which teems with energy alongside the acrobatics).
If you live in the area and haven’t seen it yet, I recommend to do so as soon as you can. It can’t be going on much longer?
Thor
ParticipantThey don’t sound QUITE like the originals, though. Could it be merely temp track love?

ParticipantI just booked tickets for this at the Kodak Theatre at the end of August.
Can’t wait!!!
Thor
ParticipantQuite rambling style there, Mr. Reubens.
I had no idea who ‘Judd’ was….I was thinking Judd Hirsch at first….untill I clicked the link and saw that it was the director Judd Apatow. Always nice with some context!
In any case, I’d welcome another PEE WEE score from Danny, especially so many years after the previous movies. It would be like Williams revisiting his STAR WARS music with the prequels. I wonder how it would sound.
Thor
ParticipantI saw a press screening a few days ago, that’s why I was a bit early.
Here’s my review, by the way, although you have to use Google Translate to get it in English:
Thor
ParticipantThe score was great in context, except that it was mixed too low. Too many loud sound effects. But when it shone, it really shone. Great WOLFMAN/Kilar vibe alongside the 70’s grooves and the odd instrumentation here and there (some flute or theremin thingie?).
Not sure I’d get a lot of pleasure from it on a CD (a bit too horrorey for my taste), but as usual hand-in-glove for a Burton film.
Thor
ParticipantI saw the film today.
Loved it!
Thor
ParticipantHa! That would be awesome if he got Danny to repeat his Satan role!
Thor
ParticipantA bit too dark and horror-ey for my taste, but I’ll postpone the evaluation untill I have the whole thing.
Thor
ParticipantThe sound quality is too poor to really make it out, but it does have some minimalist vibe. Could also be Michael Nyman — especially in the style of his Peter Greenaway scores. But it might just be a little too conventional for that.
Thor
ParticipantIs the above a link to a legit site where I can download FORBIDDEN ZONE songs or is it a spam/virus?
Thor
ParticipantCool, so that new song WAS by Danny?
Thor
ParticipantSo Josh Brolin is supposed to play a younger version of Tommy Lee Jones. A 40 year younger Jones….and he’s only, like, 20 years younger in real life?! That’s sci fi right there! And where’s Rip Torn?
Loved the funky Elfman theme at the end there, though.
Thor
ParticipantOK, thank you.
Did you try to insert a picture of your new home there? It doesn’t show…..
Thor
ParticipantSo….NEW music and not merely an excerpt from the IRIS show?
Thor
ParticipantNot to rush you or anything, but what would be the approximate timeframe for this new, leaner site and board, Ryan?
Thor
ParticipantCould that mean we will eventually see some demo tapes of the songs surface, like they did with previous discarded musicals LITTLE DEMONS and JIMMY CALLICUT?
Thor
ParticipantI believe that track is the same one running on the RESTLESS site.
Saw the film recently. It was OK, but nothing remarkable considering it’s van Sant.
