There was a screening last night and AwardsDaily tweeted that from what they’ve heard Adams, Waltz and Elfman have ‘assured’ nominations this year. A few people on forums who have claimed to seen it have singled Elfman’s score put positively too.

Sounds like a Big Eyes suite will be added.

Because someone edited the IMDB page?

EDIT: I see Edward was talking about it on Filmtracks. He’s reliable and was first to mention Elfman was on American Hustle IIRC.

I dunno, lalaland as much as said they’re releasing Midnight Run last year. Elfman’s one of their favorites so I’m sure something is coming.

I’m sure there’ll be an expanded release to keep us occupied, as well as the ballet. :)

All I know is that it is being/was recorded in Berlin like TUK.

Mike Flanagan (Somnia) is directing an adaption of Stephen King’s Gerald’s Game. Gerald’s Game is very much the (less good) sister to Dolores Claiborne so I’d love to see Elfman involved.

Van Sant hasn’t worked with another composer since 1995 so it’s a very safe bet.

Budget is $25M which seems far removed from Van Sant’s other experimental movies. The movie is also partly flashback to scenes with McConaughy’s wife. You never know of course but I think and hope this will have a score.

BD: One of your next projects is another film with Mike Flanagan, called SOMNIA – only this time, you’re also teaming up with the famous composer Danny Elfman. How did that come about, and how exactly is your collaborative process going to work? (Also, that must be pretty exciting!)
AG: It is indeed very exciting. Words are not appropriate in describing it. We’ve been collaborating on thematic elements lately. After we’ve got themes nailed down, we’ll lean into textures and applying themes to the rest of the film.

TS: It’s very exciting. He’s brilliant. We’re both big fans of his. I remember listening to EDWARD SCISSORHANDS (1991) in high school. It was just breathtaking. It still is. We met Danny at the Toronto International Film Festival. He came to the OCULUS premiere.

I liked the score actually. Thought the movie was pretty atrocious though.

    Oscar nomination #5 is coming.

I’m a bit bummed to see that there’s an additional composer on the IMDB page though.

Deadline did a 2015 Oscar prediction thingy a while back and said Big Eyes is for fall, and that Adams is apparently terrific.

I just saw the movie (terrific btw) and that track in the dance video and trailer does in fact play during the end credits. It’s definitely a standalone track and not comprised of other pieces. Should be easy to get a rip of it but it’s a shame it wasn’t included, it’s fantastic.

I’ve been listening to bits and bobs on youtube and is it me or is the big version of the main theme used in the trailer and that dance video I posted not on the album? It plays during the end credits of the movie too. I want it!

Ordered, the samples on iTunes are so good.

Between this, Big Eyes, Fifty Shades and Somnia we’ve got a really interesting and diverse slate coming up.

My bad, someone brought it up in an interview and Morris didn’t correct him so I assumed it was true.

How strange that Mars Attacks! clearly wasn’t a big seller.

Errol Morris’ first feature film ‘Holland, Michigan’ is gaining steam, with Naomi Watts and Bryan Cranston set to star. The script topped last year’s black list too. I’d like to see their collaboration continue.

I’ve been listening to some of The Newton Brothers and it’s really not for me at all. Hoping Danny contributes more.

‘Q: Can you tell me a little about the collaboration with Danny Elfman, he did the score and it seems so unlike his other work.

RM: It was an interesting thing, I was hoping to work with him for many many years, and he was talking to DreamWorks on a variety of projects but this is the one he was most interested in. He has a signature to his work but I didn’t want his score for this film to be like those that’s he’s done with Tim Burton cause this film is different in tone and style. And he seemed to embrace it very well.’

Wonder what the other projects were.

Elfman mentioned he was about to start it a month before recording started. I wonder Elfman’s hiring was a last minute thing? That might explain it.

The SOP CD came out shortly after the movie’s theatrical release. Problem is that the Weinstein company are pretty dire with score releases, it might be a download only release.
