ParticipantI haven’t gotten mine yet, but I’m glad to hear it’s got a lot of “Spider-Man” to it–it’s my favorite of his scores.

ParticipantOne, he’s not a young man anymore. Two, he’s just been working on two movies at once with two more coming up. Three, he went through hell on his last project. Four, there’s little Oliver to care for! I’ll bet he’s a cute baby. And a totally cool baby.

ParticipantI was in Barnes and Noble today just because I was there (my sister’s getting the CD for me as a 5-month-belated birthday gift, not sure how long I’ll be waiting) and I don’t think they even had a film score section! Now I await the arrival of my CD and the release of the movie, and I am EXCITED!!!

ParticipantI’m getting my CD soon! Was his original music used in the full trailer?

ParticipantI imagine she’s tending to their baby. He’s just a youngion, after all.

ParticipantHarsh, Danny. Harsh. I really wish he were doing Spider-Man 3 rather than Charlotte’s Web. It doesn’t seem to be a very promising movie. I’m expecting to see just another “Racing Stripes” kind of deal. Harsh.

ParticipantI’m not a Boingo expert, but what about “I Love L.A.” by the lovable Randy Newman?

ParticipantHey Ryan, are you a scooper for JoBlo.com? On one of their stories about the Corpse Bride trailer, it says “thanks to Ryan not only for letting us know about the trailer but for having an unpronounceable last name (because those are cool – seriously, try to pronounce my last name).” Is that you? Link to the scoop:

ParticipantWas that kazoo? Really good stuff. I love how the brass comes in like POTA/Doc Ock’s theme combined, then we get a signature quick-strings-thingy (is there a name for that?) This seems to be the movie everyone, Danny included, has been waiting to see/hear. Everything I’ve heard so far is a sumary of everything he’s learned and loved over his composing career.

ParticipantThat’s such a fun and diverse song! I love the yodels and “weeeee!”s. At first the rhymes worried me, but upon second listen, I confused “contain it” with “continue.” The other songs are going to be so much fun as well, especially the jazzy Augstus Gloop song!

ParticipantDeepest condolences go out to those lost or injured and their families, as well as the whole of England. The attackers have no concern for the value of innocent human life; they’re like a little kid provoking a giant. They’ll get their beating.

ParticipantFirst was “Lemony Snicket,” then obviously “What’s This” from NBC. Not sure what the last song was, but DANNY’S VOICE WAS HEARD! HE’S THE SKELETON WHO SAYS “A tragic tale of romance, passion, and a murder most foul.” That’s Bonejangles, the character he voiced! Yay! The animation is beautiful! I’m so excited! Is it obvious from the caps and exclamation marks?!

ParticipantNewest Podcast: They talk about Charlie, with samples!!! Aparrently the End Credits Suite is 7 minutes long and consists of music-only versions of the songs. Listen for more details and reviews.

ParticipantWhile the chorus may be slightly overdone, I appreciate a composer’s choice to use chorus in a score, especially one of this type. Ottman used the chorus wonderfully in X2, so I don’t doubt his ability in using it. Danny Elfman’s still my favorite when it comes to chorus, I mean listen to “Spider-Man 2,” “Sleepy Hollow,” and “Edward Scissorhands.” He is number one in chorus use. But Ottman’s still pretty good as well.

ParticipantOoh, this makes me very excited! I’m very happy with the direction he went with the music: back about fifteen years. As for the Oompa Loompa song, who knew that jazzy music in the commercials is actually his? The Oompa Loompas are awesome. Tim Burton’s done another fine job with this film by the looks of it and from some positive early reviews.

ParticipantJohn Ottman’s website posted 3 generous clips from the soundtrack. They sound more towards his style, though there are hints of Elfman and some Young there. It’s a shame it’ll be watered down by punk rock the whole movie.

ParticipantIt’s a combination of elements from the book, radio show, and the old film. Quite splendid, I have to say, plus it’s got the Spielberg touch to it.

ParticipantAs long as we’ve mentioned book adaptations, I’m gonna go off-topic and recommend that everyone sees “War of the Worlds.” I just saw it tonight and it’s amazing. Proceed as usual.

ParticipantI, not an avid ballet watcher, was going to try to see this show if it came to the east coast U.S. with new music from Danny, but now I’m not as interested,

ParticipantI imagined a bit more than 48 minutes of music, but 20 tracks ain’t bad. I almost forgot about Burton main titles. As we did with Big Fish, who wants to take a guess as to whether they circle around an object or follow a character’s journey somewhere?

ParticipantSean Astin was originally one of the top contenders to direct the film, and I was able to have a chat with him a few months back. I think he would have done a great job on the film. He’s got an Oscar nomination for best short film under his belt. Tim Story’s got Barbershop. Back in March, Sean told me he hadn’t even seen the trailer but he told me that Marvel’s marketing campaign was massive, extending to even public schools. I think he would have been a better choice than Tim “Taxi” Story.

ParticipantThere’s also a fake Danny Elfman somewhere on MySpace. I personally am a Sconex kid.
Spider-Fan
ParticipantI think he should quit the boring dramatic scores he’s stuck to lately and score another majestic, heroic action movie. Once again, I’ll cite “The Rocketeer” and “Apollo 13.”

ParticipantSchneider’s List?! Come on, show some respect! It was Schindler!

ParticipantVAN HELSING! That’s the trailer this song is from. It was killing me until I made this discovery. I feel better now.
Does anyone have any other Immediate Music tracks? I like “Lucius Dei” from the Island trailer and “Mercutio” from the other part of the Van Helsing trailer. Maybe they’re copycats, but they have interesting tunes!
