The directors cut was pretty good…except for this one gigantic glaring error in editing that just bothered the crap outta me. But it offered a little more of everything. The treatment of Danny’s score is still just so-so in my opinion. The whole finale sequence (from the fight in the manor until the end credits) was pretty much wall to wall score, but it was edited so poorly. Honestly, how many times can the last :30 of “Reflection/2nd Transformation” be played before its just overdone? Plus the Finale from the score album is entirely different from what was played in the movie. I’m actually kinda at odds over which version of the Finale cue I like better.

Um this may sound like a stupid question…but where is Wolf Wild #1?

in reply to: The Family Man #65345

No I finally watched it last night, I bought it like 2 weeks ago. I just wanted to watch the movie and I loved it. Next time I’ll get into the features and stuff lol.

in reply to: Tim Burton’s ‘Alice in Wonderland’ #65295

I think its great. I love the theme. I feel like its a merging of the best of his techniques from over the years.

But does anybody else find “Down The Hole” VERRRRRYYY reminiscent of “Up and Out” from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? I mean, I love it…its freakin awesome. It makes me feel like I’m tumbling down a deep deep crater, but still lol.

in reply to: Tim Burton directing stop-motion Addam’s Family movie. #65291

My blood is black and white stripe and flows in swirling patterns to the tune of Danny Elfman’s music. THAT is how much a Tim Burton fan I am. But this is an effing AWFUL idea. The Barry Sonnenfeld films were amazing and given the darkly comic nature of the original, and the production of the films themselves…they were very Burton-esque. When talking to a friend about this, he thought the original movies were directed by Tim Burton. I truly truly do love Tim Burton and I believe his only big creative misstep was Planet of the Apes…but honestly, I would love to see him do more original work. Pee Wee’s Big Adventure? Classic. Beetlejuice was amazing, Edward Scissorhands was sublime, Mars Attacks was bitchin. Off the top of my head, those are the only four movies he’s directed that weren’t based on something else.

I, for one, sadly am NOT anticipating this at all.

The music on the other hand? Well… :-)

in reply to: The Wolf Man (2009) #65240

Did anyone else really really like this? I really enjoyed the album, not so much the music’s treatment in the film but when I got home and heard the whole album I enjoyed it a lot. Sleepy Hollow-esque with a dash of the gypsy sensibility from Drag Me To Hell (not by Elfman, I know…but another score I enjoyed a lot).

in reply to: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix #59403

“Professor Umbridge” is a kick-ass cue. Thats all I’m sayin lol.

The score to “The Shadow” was freakin’ awesome! The first and second “X-Men” scores I really didn’t like that much, especially Kamens. The last one I thought was excellent. “Batman Forever” kinda sticks out.

I’m trying to compile a few of my own…this is kinda hard lol. Elfman and Williams have been responsible for the scores to the films based on the most iconic superheroes: Batman and Superman. I mean theres Batman Begins but the score wasn’t as good as the movie it accompanied and Superman Returns, well the original theme was used so much its kinda hard to differentiate.

in reply to: Young… AND Elfman confirmed on SM3 #59137

I really don’t feel like going through 193 posts to see if this question has been answered, but humor me.

Is the “Spider-Man 3” score going to be released?

in reply to: Interested in seeing ‘EDWARD’ ballet? #57948

I thought it was gonna be overseas and then like come to Canada and thats it. When I found out it was coming to Brooklyn, I almost died lol.

in reply to: Goth-Punk Covers of “Nightmare” for Christmas!? #57384

This is indeed absolute balls. Fuck emo bands…they suck. Especially Fall Out Boy ::shudders::

Elfman, on the other hand, is the shit.

    in reply to: I’m not gloating!… I promise. #56198

Wait…the hall made a recording??!! GODDAMMIT!!! I saw the show as well, FREAKIN INCREDIBLE!!! But i had no idea that the hall made a recording of it

    Or how about Herrmannesque?? lol

in reply to: Dolores Claiborne Promo Question #55756

Yea seriously dude. I downloaded the original album track by track and the quality is great. I burned the CD and its like lodged in my stereo. But theres promo tracks that I want, especially “Vera’s Death”. So yea…if you could hook it up with a few cues, that would be awesome!

in reply to: Elfman to score “Frogman” #55212

    LOL!

in reply to: Charlie & The Chocolate Factory dvd #55069

Screw commentary! I hate commentary! Its like sitting next to someone when theyre talking during the movie. What I would appreciate however is an isolated score track. That would be freakin great! And as for Deep Roy, leave the poor guy alone. He had to do everything shown in the movie by the number of times he was digitally multiplied, which is 165. Imagine having to do the same dance number 165 times. Yea thank you. Shh. An Elfman featurette would be good, though. An interview about the songs and the zany score. Well, theres always special editions.

in reply to: New Elfman Fan! #54820

Ever since those first 4 notes of the Batman Main Title, I was hooked. But Edward Scissorhands is my favorite.

I own Batman, Batman Returns, Edward Scissorhands, Red Dragon, Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, Dolores Claiborne, and Sleepy Hollow.

in reply to: Other “Ch & the choc. factory” references #54801

It wasn’t a spaceship, it was the chocolate sucker machine thingy.
How about the swirly thing on the top of Wonka’s cane? Doesn’t it look like the remote transmitter on the bottom of the Batmobile in “Batman Returns”?

    in reply to: Just a thought… #54745

    LMAO!! Can you imagine…

    “AugustuUus… GlooOoOp!!!”

If Danny could get Oingo Boingo back together for one night to perform the nominated song, it would be so FREAKIN AWESOME!!!!

in reply to: Question on CATCF song “Main Titles” #54738

“Requiem for Soprano, Mezzo Soprano, Two Mixed Choirs and Orchestra” by Gyorgy Ligeti.

in reply to: Actual order of “Charlie” tracks? #54726

The thing is…I don’t remember there being a second river cruise. I just remember the one where they rehashed the Main Titles over it. Then they got off the boat, and kept walking, then as a mode of transportation used the Great Glass Elevator.

in reply to: Let’s rub this guy out! PART II #54568

“not stupid, factory-made, garden variety songs named after the characters they represent (supposedly).”

Supposedly? Obviously this guy is a retard. If he actually had the CD, he would know that Elfman’s songs are named after the kids the represent. He makes it sound like he doesn’t even know who the characters are.

in reply to: “Charlie” reactions #54562

Augustus Gloop’s song was the best. It was so big and brassy and over the top, OMG I loved it so much!

in reply to: Immediate Music #54560

    The one with choir.

in reply to: Elfman’s Emmy nod #54547

Elfman better win!!! That theme is too good not to. I hope Desperate Housewives wins everything it was nominated for because thats one really good show. After all this reality TV bullshit, its nice to see something…I dunno, ACTED! And damn well if I might add.
