This is random . . . but at the Ripley’s museum on Hollywood Boulevard, there is a room/stairway that plays the Breakfast Machine cue from Pee-wee’s Big Adventure. I don’t know if they ever play that music in other Ripley’s museums; the one in Hollywood is the only one I’ve ever been to.

And that is your random fact for the day, folks.

You said performed and recorded . . . does this mean there will be a performance that Los Angeles locals can attend?? If so . . . I’m there!

Wow. I very, very rarely listen to things like this but I listened and was very impressed. I’m not sure if this makes a lot of sense, but I feel like you captured the sound of Big Fish without ripping off the sound of Danny Elfman. I thoroughly enjoyed it :-)

I read a review of the movie that said the worst part of it was the music . . . :-p

No beans to spill, really . . . nothing earth-shattering or exciting unless you care about minute details (although it sounds like there will be some cute sight-gags in the movie).

I am once again excited to see this movie . . . everyone I’ve talked to who worked on it said they thought it was “a disappointment” but it looks like I’ll disagree. I think now that I’ve gotten past the Michael Jackson-Kate Winslet hybrid Willy Wonka, and some of the differences in the Oompa Loompas etc. it looks pretty cool now.

I read in some magazine somewhere that he and Bridget Fonda had gotten a house in Santa Barbara, about 2 1/2 hours north of LA (Santa Barbara is basically paradise on earth and full of rich people). I really don’t care where Danny Elfman lives but I have a really hard time believing that he would live in the suburban cesspool known as Burbank.

And in The Nightmare Before Christmas, I can just barely make out a chorus singing, “Making Christmas.”

I doubt most of the people there were true classical listeners . . . probably mostly Elfman fans. About half of my music collection is classical (the rest is film scores) and I still don’t consider myself a true classical listener :-p

I haven’t been to Sea World Orlando since I was a little kid, but I didn’t notice any special ambient music. Granted, I didn’t go on the Atlantis ride, I only hung outside it for a few minutes to watch the Commerson’s dolphins (I wasn’t there for fun), but I never heard any Elfman music.

I know I’ve heard Elfman stuff at other parks over the years, I just can’t remember which ones. Oddly enough, I heard the Hulk main titles being played while I donated blood on Monday – doesn’t get any weirder than that.

I got an FZ soundtrack autographed by Danny Elfman and Richard Elfman . . . but at this moment am not compelled to scan it :-p

Yeah, sorry, I don’t think they can fill a whole movie with that little folktale . . .

Plus the suggested necrophilia still seems a bit too taboo for most audiences.

I think it was supposed to be like in a photo or something . . . I’m not sure. A friend of mine saw it and got excited when she saw this guy in it.

“Due to all the skill sets available today — from animal trainers to digital, prosthetic and mechanical effects — we were able to pull off Dahl’s squirrel scene for the first time,” Davis says. “We had hundreds of live squirrels running around the (sealed off) set. Nobody was bitten, but it was a bit creepy. Squirrels are quite scary; they’ve got a wild energy. They’re not like rats, they’re electric — almost like birds.”

Awwww . . . I feel validated now. I remember when someone I know came back from London and told me all about those squirrels . . . and now I “know” them and they are really scary.

Wow, that is sooooooooo over the top. It’s just a friggin plane . . .

A few years ago I found a video on the Siegfried and Roy website of their white tigers playing in a pool, set to Ed Scissorhands music. It made me sick, in small part because Siegfried and Roy were breeding these white tigers claiming that they were endangered animals that they were helping to save. Mostly it bothered me because it was all just so STUPID.

I just found out that a guy I know is in the movie somewhere as a dead person . . . which is confusing to me, but if the score is good maybe now I have two reasons to see it (well, three, an animal I know is in it too!) . . . hmm

I dunno . . . it doesn’t look “fresh” . . . visually, it just doesn’t look like anything I haven’t seen before. I like how the Johnny Depp character is kinda spidery looking like Jack Skellington, but then even that is a bit irritating, realizing that the part I like best about the trailer is that I can compare it to a movie I’ve already seen before. The plot and the writing seem kinda dumb too.

I know I shouldn’t be judging a book by its cover, but as long as everyone is . . . well . . . I am a huge Tim Burton fan, but I’m not going to drool in worship just because it’s Tim Burton.

I am going to be a total party pooper and say . . .

. . . this trailer actually makes me far, far, far less interested in seeing the movie. I didn’t like what I saw. This may change with repeated viewings, and of course I will see the movie because I HAVE to but I’m no longer psyched.

Can you maybe post that cue from Elf???

I really wish that movie had a score CD out :-( I am curious to hear which part of Polar Express sounds like Elf . . .
