ParticipantVery cool. I’d kill to have a pair of the real gloves that squeak with every movement of the hand.

ParticipantI appreciate the info, but I’m kinda running out of cash, so the $7 hat did just fine. Happy Halloween everyone!

ParticipantWhat I meant is the style of computer animation that it is. For example, “Toy Story” and “A Bug’s Life” both have similar looks adn styling, whereas “Shrek” and “Ice Age” have their own thing going on. Anyway it looks like we can expect a fun score out of this one.

ParticipantHe never saw “Batman Forever”?! He produced it! Wow. I had been curious about his upcoming slate seeing that it’s empty, but I guess he does deserve a break.

ParticipantI got the track off a p2p program, and it’s perfect quality. It’s fifteen minutes long and too large to put in an e-mail. The only downside is that it’s got the Jeremy Irons narration, but that too is pretty cool. There are other ways of obtaining music from sections of the ride; clips are available at http://soundofmagic.com/menu.htm in the Epcot section.
As far as I know, and it’s only from doing lots of web searching, Edo Guidotti composed the entire ride. I haven’t ever found any information on him but the complete ride music is among my favorite pieces to listen to.

ParticipantKevin Smith wasn’t very happy about that fact. They’re mortal enemies, though he did praise “Corpse Bride” when he saw it with his daughter.

ParticipantWe’ve heard bits and pieces about the story from Danny himself, but is there something you know additionally! You tempt us so, Ryan!
Spider-Fan
ParticipantNot like it’s a big deal now because he rakes in meelions of dollars. And a very small chunk of that came from us.
Spider-Fan
ParticipantOh come on, we have a few girls who come by here. I actually made friends with one of them! Don’t be intimidated, we’re all friendly folk over here. Glad you’re into the music!

ParticipantI’m looking forward to The Legend of Zorro, but I think they picked a bad time to release it. Martin Campbell’s a solid director, everyone loved the first movie, and I personally liked James Horner’s score (he comes in just behind Danny Elfman on my list of favorite composers, despite the criticism he often receives. Just try listening to “The Perfect Storm” while driving next to the crashing waves from the Nor’easter that’s over the Massachusetts coast right now.)

ParticipantIt was Shirley Walker who wrote the Batman: The Animated Series theme, right? I always get confused about that one. I absolutely love what she did with it.

ParticipantWal-Mart didn’t have the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory score a few days after it came out, so I’m not partial to that place. Plus I like Target better.

ParticipantI doubt Patrick Doyle had much of a problem signing on teh the latest Harry Potter film. But then again, there wasn’t hell on the last one and it earned an Oscar nomination. But I’m sure that there won’t be a big problem with a composer signing onto Spider-Man 3, it’s big bucks and probably little work considering there’s bound to be TONS of re-use of music.

ParticipantHmm, each one that Danny has scored in the past few years has been successful. Interesting. Yeah, movies have really sucked lately. The only movies I’ve been to in the last three months have been Tim Burton fims. Yes, I saw “Corpse Bride” twice and “Charlie” thrice. The only movie I saw prior to those was “War of the Worlds,” which didn’t follow the recent suckfest of movies…it was awesome.
Spider-Fan
ParticipantYou’ll have to wait until Danny starts waiting tables again, according to him. But hey, if he does, somebody tell me the restaurant and I’ll buy a ticket to their next collaboration.

ParticipantFlubber and Men in Black. ’97 was a good year.

Participant1. Yeah, the Hellraiser theme was almost exactly copied by Chris Young because the actual cue couldn’t get licensed. What a business when you can’t use your own creations! Also what a business where you can hire one of Hollywood’s top composers for the most expensive movie EVER and still want to use licensed music.
2. Pretty sure Elfman did that cue, because it’s used when he talks about what parts to score first on the DVD feature.
3. Ryan?
4. Interesting question, but I’ve heard nothing from Raimi’s side. Probably trying not to recognize that there actually was a problem.
5. It was Chris Young.
Ryan would probably know the rest because I think there’s still more information he’s hiding from us. I also sent an e-mail question to Dan Goldwasser at SoundTrack.Net about his recorded music getting replaced by old music, and hopefully it will be answered on their next Podcast.

ParticipantThe “Big Fish” DVD was a big disappintment. No features on the music, and the commentary was a British guy interviewing Tim the whole movie, with only a brief and heard-before mention of Danny.
Spider-Fan
ParticipantThe movie comes out in 8 months, meaning he’s nearly half a year away from starting work. Actually, he could have squeezed “King Kong” into his schedule if his services were desired again by Peter Jackson and still have had a while to think about “Charlotte’s Web.”
Spider-Fan
ParticipantI might see it just for Chris Walken! And Kiera, too, she can’t be missed. But make sure you consider voting for Christopher Walken as our next president, and if not him, consider General Zod
Spider-Fan
ParticipantI don’t plan on buying the anthology, but it’s nice to hear Elfman’s score as the one being used in the commercials.

ParticipantWow, didn’t see that one coming. At least Peter Jackson had the grace to maintain his friendship with Howard Shore despite their creative differences. Very classy. I’m sure JNH will do a fine job on the film. It’s not like it’s an 11th hour project either, there’s still 2 months until the release. If I recall correctly, Danny had less time to work on Hulk and that turned out wonderfully. Shame that Danny, a once collaborator with Peter Jackson, wasn’t called in for the job. Not like we expected it, but still, a neat concept.

ParticipantHigh schooler from north of Boston, MA, and I know absulutely nothing about music other than the fact that I’m obsessed with the music of Danny Elfman as well as many other film composers.

ParticipantWow, the article was enough to garner a headline over at JoBlo.com. It’s listed as “Elfman vs. Raimi.” Elfman would so win.
